June Bug Band
    by Stacy Peterson

‘Round twilight
Under the porch light
Bugs begin to gather about.
The word is out.
So, give ‘em a hand -
The little June Bug Band!
Check out the threads -
And the hair on their heads.
They can play any tune
Under the moon,
Their favorite source?
(The Beatles - of course)
If you want the blues,
They’ll refuse.
So shake your pelvis,
They love Elvis.
The bad is groovin’,
Bugs are movin’,
Crickets are strummin’,
Bees are hummin’,
Legs are shakin’,
Knees are quakin’,
They’re jitterin’,
Twitterin’
All over the floor
And the screen door.
They’re outta sight!
They’ll play all night.
Oh, those crazy boys
Make too much noise.
Better turn off the light.
Good Night!
